This subsection holds the further exercises on the general analysis and the worked example on pulse dispersion. They use only the universal results of Table 7.1.1: for any TM or TE mode with cutoff $f_c$ and $s=\sqrt{1-(f_c/f{)}^2}$,

and below cutoff $\tau =-\mathrm{j}\alpha$, $\alpha =h\sqrt{1-(f/f_c{)}^2}$. The constants are $c=3\times 10^{8}m/s$, ${\eta }_0=120\pi =377\Omega$, ${\mu }_0=4\pi \times 10^{-7}H/m$, ${\epsilon }_0=10^{-9}/(36\pi )F/m$, and $1\mathrm{Np}=8.686\mathrm{dB}$.
